George McCartin has worked as the Associate Athletic Director, Head Varsity Football Coach, and Middle School Athletic Director at Saint Andrew's School since 2004. He is a member of the AFCA, NFHS Coaches' Association, and the Florida High School Coaches' Association. Coach McCartin has compiled a career record of 46-31-1 as a head varsity football coach. In his second year at Saint Andrew's, the Scots entered district competition for the first time in school history. He has been selected three times to coach in the Broward Bowl All-star game. McCartin currently has eight Saint Andrew's graduates competing in NCAA college football.
Prior to Saint Andrew's, McCartin was a three-year varsity football letter winner at Central Connecticut State College. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1982-1991 and was part of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. McCartin earned his undergraduate degree in physical education at Bridgewater State College and was the athletic director and head varsity football coach at Thayer Academy in Braintree, MA from 1992-2004. During his time at Thayer, he placed 10 student-athletes in Ivy League schools. In 2004, McCartin was selected to coach as the defensive coordinator in the Massachusetts Shriner's All-Star football game. In the same year Coach McCartin received the ISL Coaching Excellence Award.
McCartin and his wife, Diane, reside in Coral Springs with their daughter C.J. '16 and son Kyle. |
